My Grandma Had An Asthma Attack From Cat Pee.
My grandma hadn’t been over to my house in a long time.
So when she finally came to visit, I was excited. I cleaned the whole house before she got there. Vacuumed, wiped everything down, cleaned the litter box, sprayed the carpet.
I thought the place smelled fine.
Honestly, I thought it smelled clean.
But not long after she got there, something felt off.
She kept rubbing her nose and clearing her throat. Then she started having trouble breathing.
At first I had no idea what was happening.
Then it got bad enough that we ended up taking her to the hospital.
When I finally got to talk to her, I asked her what was wrong.
And she said something that honestly made my stomach drop.
“Your house smelled really strong when I walked in.”
I didn’t understand what she meant.
Then she said:
“It smelled like cat pee.”
I remember just staring at her.
Because I couldn’t smell it.
Not even a little.
And that’s when it hit me.
I had two cats.
I cleaned their litter box constantly.
If one of them had an accident, I cleaned it right away.
I vacuumed.
I sprayed Febreze.
I lit candles.
I used plug-ins.
I genuinely thought I was keeping on top of it.
Meanwhile, my grandma walked into my house after not being there for months and smelled something I couldn’t even notice anymore.
That messed with me.
Because then I started thinking about everybody else who’d been inside my house.
My friends.
My family.
People dropping things off.
Anyone who’d ever walked through my front door.
Had they smelled it too?
Were they just too polite to say anything?
That thought wouldn’t leave me alone.
What I Finally Realized About The SmellSo after what happened with my grandma, I went crazy trying to get the smell out.
I shampooed the carpet.
I bought different pet odor sprays.
I used vinegar.
Baking soda.
Enzyme cleaners.
I washed blankets and couch covers.
For a few hours, sometimes even a day, I’d think I finally fixed it.
Then I’d leave the house and come back.
And there it was again.
That nasty cat pee smell.
Not always super strong.
Just enough that once I knew it was there, I couldn’t stop looking for it.
And that’s when I started wondering:
That’s when I learned something I really wish I’d known sooner.
The Pee Stain You See Isn’t Always The Real Problem
When your cat pees on carpet, a rug or a couch, that liquid doesn’t necessarily stay on the surface.
It can soak down between the fibers.
Into the backing.
Into the carpet padding.
Into the foam inside your couch.
Then it dries.
And you’re left with odor-causing uric-acid residue sitting deeper inside the material.
So I’d been spraying the top of my carpet over and over while part of the problem could still be sitting underneath it.
That explained everything.
Why the house smelled better right after I cleaned.
Why I’d think I’d finally gotten rid of it.
And why the smell would somehow show back up again later.
That was the part nobody had ever explained to me.
And once I understood that, I stopped looking for something that just smelled stronger.
I started looking for something that could actually get my enzyme solution farther into the carpet and fabric.
That’s how I found the Celani Odor Gun.
This Is What Made It Different For Me
The first thing I noticed was the mist.
A normal spray bottle shoots out relatively large droplets.
They wet the surface pretty quickly.
The Celani Odor Gun takes the bio-enzyme solution and atomizes it into this really fine mist.
So instead of me soaking one little spot on top, that fine mist can move farther through the fabric and into those odor-holding layers.
That means the enzymes have a better chance of reaching the uric-acid residue and other odor-causing compounds sitting deeper in the material.
That’s when the whole thing finally clicked for me.
So I started walking around the house with it.
Carpet.
Rugs.
Couch.
Cat beds.
Curtains.
Pretty much every soft surface my cats were always on.
A rechargeable atomizer that turns a bio-enzyme formula into an ultra-fine mist for odor-holding soft surfaces.

I’d just go through the house and mist everything.
The solution has a light citrus smell when you first spray it, but I wasn’t looking for another perfume.
I’d already done the whole Febreze-and-candle thing.
I wanted to walk back into my house and smell clean.
Not flowers mixed with cat pee.
Not vanilla mixed with cat pee.
Just clean.
And after everything that happened with my grandma, I became almost obsessive about checking.
I’d leave the house for a while and come back in.
I’d actually stop at the front door and smell.
For the first time in forever, I wasn’t getting that same funk.
But there was still one test I cared about more than anything else.
Grandma.
A while later, she finally came back over.
And I’m not gonna lie, I was nervous.
I cleaned before she came, but this time I didn’t spend the entire morning spraying random air fresheners around the house.
I just did what I’d been doing with the Celani Odor Gun.
She walked through the front door.
I was watching her face like a hawk.
She looked around for a second and said:
I started laughing.
Both of them were literally in the next room.
She couldn’t believe it.
And what got me wasn’t even the comment.
It was what happened afterward.
She stayed.
We sat around talking.
Had something to eat.
She wasn’t rushing to leave.
She looked comfortable.
And I didn’t realize how much I’d missed having her there until that day.
I love my cats.
I’m never getting rid of them.
I don’t want to wonder if I’ve gone nose blind again.
And I definitely don’t want somebody I love walking through my front door and noticing something I’ve stopped being able to smell.

Because once I understood that the odor could be sitting deeper than the part I was cleaning, everything finally made sense.
And I really wish I’d figured that out before Grandma’s visit.
“I love this product, makes my house smell like I don't even have any pets.”
“I've tried everything to mask the odor and nothing worked until now.”
“Covers a lot of area without leaving everything soaked.”
